For more than 130 years, our Family has been in Patagonia.
We, the Gallie´s, are the 5th generation of those brave scottish adventurers that went horseback riding through a vast territory of Argentina, bringing with them from Río Negro, the first sheep (5.000) in the Great drive of 1888 (2 years of drive and 2 shears).
We have noticed a deterioration in the environment and more specifically in Patagonia.
And it is in that problem that we saw an opportunity, which we will revert by adding value, work and re-thinking what was done historically through creative and sustainable solutions and the use of technology at hand.

Our main objective is to do things differently, in another way.
Taking care of Patagonia through a sustainable use of its natural resources, alongside with a clean and renewable energy and a valued, efficient team that recovers the habitat and condition of the land.
At the same time, we venture into developing renewable energy projects that have good potential on this land we know so well. We seek to make the whole thing profitable from an economic, environmental and social point of view.

MORRO CHICO.

27,000 hectares – 11,000 Merinos and 1,500 Hereford and Aberdeen Angus.
Productivity: 21 micron Merino wool and 68% average yield.
Founding Member of Chubut´s first CREA Group.
Morro Chico was completely rethinked by a team of collaborators, employees from the Estancia and an architectural studio that specializes in sustainable architecture, to be an Estancia of the future. To accomplish such a feat we kickstarted a plan to recycle and upgrade all of the buildings with modern standard and always looking into the future, thanks to the team at the Swiss based studio Richter Dahl Rocha.
Personnel houses, barns, shearing barn, stables and dog kennels. All of them were rebuilt using energy efficient construction and renewable energy sources.
Our main objective is to achieve a large scale wool production (through a cattle expansion project we aim to reach 100,000 sheep) of high quality merino wool and both cow and sheep meat, to deliver and satisfy the world´s most demanding and sophisticated markets. At Morro Chico, we make everything we can to preserve animal and plant welfare, such as good animal practices both in sheep (achieved Responsible Wool Standard -RWS- certification) and cows, and sustainable use of the native forests and grasslands (we installed monitors within the property to evaluate the results of regenerative practices through EOV – Ecological Outcome Verification).
In collaboration with a team of INTA Río Gallegos we monitor the health of the Río Gallegos, Rubens and Penitentes rivers.

Productivity: 19 micron Merino wool and 64% average yield.
Estancia La Rosa is a flagship of our quest to find the perfect balance between tradition and modernity. It is here that we combine a sustainable cattle raising with renewable energy from Garayalde wind farm.
To achieve this, we modernized the whole estancia, starting with the whole water system so as to serve the animals in the best way. We installed a pump and solar panel system so as to add to the traditional mills, a plan for the wire fences was implemented to improve the sheep driving, sheep classing and low maintenance animals, always focusing on both animal and native fauna welfare (achieved Responsible Wool Standard -RWS- Certification). We recently started a holistic management approach of our grasslands aiming at regenerating our ecosystem measuring results of the management of the land through EOV (Ecological Outcome Verification).
Within the Renovar 1.0 program form the Ministry of Energy of Argentina, we developed a 24MW windfarm to diversify our income and show there is a way to use existing resources (such as wind) in a positive way.
Windfarm production kick-off: December 2018.
